summer workshops??

I'm putting out feelers for summer workshops. this is all in the "I just had a crazy idea!" stage, so nothing is for sure. I'm just wondering who all would be interested, and I'll go from there. =) I'm just throwing out ideas about all the things I would love to do, and I can make a real plan (or decide it won't happen) after I have an idea of who would want to do something like this.

I'm thinking maybe every Saturday in June, 10am-3pm. (June 9, 16, 23, 30) (dates subject to change)
probably 8-12 grade. (could make some exceptions)
not sure where yet, since I'm just seeing who would be interested.
$10 or $15 per week (depending on how many are interested and if I need to pay for a venue).

I'm thinking each week can build off of the previous weeks but also stand alone, so if you miss a week because of vacation or something you won't be lost. Or you could just do one week. or just the first and last week.
I might do a different focus each week, like one week improv, one week monologues, one week Shakespeare (work on individual monologues and some scenes), one week work on a one act play. we would do some of the same things each week (warmups/games, etc.), so it would still be worth just doing one week. I'm just throwing out some ideas...give me some feedback!

we'd do lots of improv games and warmups, skits, learn a monologue or two (definitely one Shakespeare), and possibly perform a one act play at the end. we might also watch some old movies or do a musical/dance number, or possibly play with makeup techniques.

I think I'd like to keep it to kids with some stage/acting experience. I'm thinking kids who enjoy theatre and would like to go deeper. this would be workshops that are a whole lot of fun, but definitely a challenge. everyone would participate. you don't have to be the best at everything, but at least give it a try. =)

I hope somebody else likes my ideas! feel free to spread the word!! =)

The Visit - week one.

well, week one of rehearsals for The Visit is complete! it's already been a huge growing and learning experience. we've worked on Act I all week, complete with a large variety of warm ups, lots of improv games, and "winging it" through the Act several times to get the structure of it and work on exploring and developing characters before getting specific on lines. I'm working lines hard this weekend to be really solid for Monday, since we're supposed to be off book completely. starting to get serious!

all the filming is done, and we're recording the last bits of voice overs for Crimson & Black tomorrow. editing is going well, and soon we (well....one of our friends...not all of us) will be working on the score. we did the promo picture photo shoot, so hopefully soon we'll have some good poster pictures!

I think that's it for now...I'll keep you posted!

Crimson & Black

Currently in production: Crimson & Black, a short film by Aaron Rowland (W.A.R. Films), co-starring myself and Ben Haws. It will be released at the Union Film Fest, March 26-27, at Union University. For more information, see  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Crimson-Black/326829214016086?sk=info
Short summary: "Adam Scott woke up one morning, lamenting the fact that he had been cursed with another day of life. The events of our story follow Adam throughout the remainder of his day as he ponders the meaning of life, reflects on the purpose of pain, and explores the vastness of eternity."

Also, my next stage production will be The Visit, directed by Prof. Kevin Anderton at Union University, March 8-13. I have a nice ensemble role. this is something totally different than I'm used to, and I hope to be challenged in my acting. I'm pretty excited! =) for more info on The Visit, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Visit

a new chapter....

Well, I think there are enough people who want to keep up with me and all the shows I'm in to justify having a blog about it. I'll try to keep it updated with what show I'm currently working on and let you all know about show dates and such. who knows...I might occasionally post some backstage/behind-the-scenes goodies!  enjoy!
